I'm a 35 year old female, I suspect I have Cushings, as I have all the symptoms including stretchmarks from torso to knees, abdominal weight gain, thin arms/legs, weak muscles, severe imsomnia, can't walk stairs or pick up anything more than a few lbs., buffalo hump, hypertension, hirsutism, loss of menstrual period, excessive thirst and urination, balding, ruddy complexion, irritable (big time) plethora, severe acne, elevated protein in spinal tap, dry hands and fingertips, etc.
The list is much longer, I had a 48H UFC test done. The first showed 183 nm/L and the second 376 nm/L (range 37-341 nanomole/liter). The second was slightly elevated. I then had a low dose 0.5 mg X8 (for a total 48Hours) dex test performed with a blood serum the following day, I suppressed to 4.0 nm/l, but no urine was collected and no CRH was performed, just a regular single blood test, no 17hydroxysteroids and night time salivary cortisols performed either.
I have always been the extremely skinny type. I was 81 lbs throughout highschool and about 100 lbs throughout my twenties. Was diagnosed with Graves in 2005 (estimated to have had it since 2003) and subsequently gained 20 lbs in weeks.
Since then my weight has steadily increased to 138 lbs. I am of Asian decent and very short, so I should mention that it's alot for my short stature. My waist was always small (22 inches) now it's 38 inches!! I look pregnant with a stretched out protruding abdomen. All my weightgain is in my abdomen, neck (buffalo hump) and my moonface. My arms and legs are about the same as when I was 20 years old.
I used to be very laid back, but for the past 6-7 years I have become irritable. I feel like a totally different person, and my periods are irregular now (6 in 21 months) whereas they used to be to on time. I find it hard to walk stairs, get up from squating and my arms are weak. I would best describe them as sore. Like some just punched my arms or as if I just went to the gym.
