Oct 23 - James Findling, MD, FACP, has been appointed professor of medicine in the division of endocrinology and metabolism at The Medical College of Wisconsin. Dr. Findling practices at the new Endocrinology Center at North Hills in Menomonee Falls and serves on the medical staff of Community Memorial Hospital.

Dr. Findling is one of five physicians joining the Medical Collegeâ??s full-time faculty who was previously a member of the Midwest Endocrinology Associates, the only private practice in Wisconsin to ever be recognized in the nationâ??s top 50 endocrinology departments in U.S. News & World Report.

Dr. Findling began his clinical training with the Medical College in 1975. He was appointed clinical professor of medicine in 1994, and was director of the Endocrine-Diabetes Center at St. Lukeâ??s Medical Center in Milwaukee for 21 years.

He is a member of the board of directors for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation in Milwaukee. He is board-certified in internal medicine and endocrinology and metabolism.

Dr. Findling has authored or co-authored 74 journal articles and 54 scientific abstracts. He is an internationally recognized expert in the evaluation and management of pituitary-adrenal gland disorders. He has served as visiting professor at many prestigious academic medical centers including the Massachusetts General Hospital, Mayo Clinic, University of Pennsylvania, Johns Hopkins, University of Pittsburgh, University of Iowa, and the University of Kansas. Dr. Findling is an ad hoc reviewer for the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism, the New England Journal of Medicine, Archives of Internal Medicine. American Journal of Medicine, and European Journal of Endocrinology, amongst others.

He completed a fellowship in endocrinology at the University of California in San Francisco in 1982, and served an internship and residency at the Medical College in 1978, and was named chief resident in the department of medicine at VA Medical Center - Milwaukee.

Dr. Findling received his medical degree from Northwestern University Medical School in Chicago in 1975, and his bachelor of science, magna cum laude, from the University of Notre Dame in 1971
